Ladybird of Luck

It appears to be ladybird season right now. I saw several while cleaning the clothes line in our backyard, with all kinds of dot combinations. I wonder if they consider it beautiful to have super many or super few dots. Or maybe something in between, or a certain amount. would that amount be six, as the amount of their legs or seven for the days of the week?

Sweet, Damp Home

We survived! The trip went really well, except for very minor misshaps, such as having to wait for our luggage for some time, and the traditional welcome to England rain. After moving a mountain of mail, we found ourselves in the house. It was cozily redecorated by spiders (i.e. cobwebs in the strangest of places), but otherwise pretty much as we left it. A really nice surprise is a leaking kitchen tap. Not leaking in the drip drip sense, but in the I'M BLEEDING TO DEATH (meaning water gushes out from all the wrong places when you turn it on) sense.

Now the exciting question is: can we get it fixed before going to Edinburgh the day after tomorrow?

Veni Vidi Vici

Unflinching, I ventured into the beast's maw, and emerged victorious. Has anyone of you went to IKEA, and only bought one single thing  (keeping to the shopping list in a strict fashion also counts)? I got my worklamp returned and they gave me a voucher, which I used to buy another lamp (which sadly was a couple pounds more expensive than my old one, but it's blue so it's all right). It was all quite hassle-free in the end.

As a bonus I got to see Croydon! It looked like this:

 Resembles an English city, yes?

The old (150 years) department store in the area, Allders was closing for good. It had only six days to go, and was mostly empty already, but I found this:

 Fluffy, colourful textiles! Oh wow!

And that pretty much made my day (: Imagine what I can do with them! Everything is possible.

Roomie had taken care of herself all right while I was gone, she even made a new friend:
Have you ever seen such a fat and green locust or whatever it's called in English. (Grasshopper?)

Tomorrow we'll take the early train to Paris, so au revoir for a little while!

Tatetatatutu

Wow, now I've been a proper person. I've voted and went to Tate Modern (huge contemporary art museum). I almost fell asleep on the train back. You simply don't have that much energy after being ill for so long, y'know.

Loropop (Longhaired Roomie's Father) gave Longhaired Roomie knives. Big, sharp knives. They make me want to cut things all the time. Vegetables, sausage, fingers, throats. . . >:D

They're really nice. Almost as nice as hot chocolate with whipped cream. Almost.

Wet Wet Wet

How horrible. Gaming and preparations for Christmas almost alienates me from the internet.

The web should really try harder.

Looks like there won't be a white Christmas in Southern Finland this year :< There's some hope on Wednesday and Thursday, but after that it's warming up again. Bleh.

After that you can only hope for a white new year instead.

Okay, let's think about something happier.

Like pink text.

That made my day!

Properer Post

Well, so yesterday we were treated with a really nice lunch of fish pie and chocolate cheesecake. Our fellow student also took us on a sightseeing tour around the areas here. Faversham seemed really nice, maybe we'll have to pay it another visit?

There were a lot of sheep everywhere, and we also made a quick stop at an really old, lovely church. Speaking of that I haven't gotten around visiting the Canterbury Cathedral yet, I've heard it's truly stunning.

Today I had a short workshop about researching for and writing academic essays, so I guess it's time to get around to writing mine. I think it will be about Minimalism. The funny thing is, that after the lecture on said subject both me and Roomie had been thinking about picking the exact same subject and essay question, so now we're essay rivals. Very serious rivals, yes.

I got a wonderful surprise package from mom, it was filled with chocolate! Accurately enough, it arrived just a few days after I'd eaten the last of my Finnish milk chocolate. I was so happy. I didn't even see when it came, because I was over at my neighbours' for an interview-excercise the neighbour needed help with.

Moral of the story: Everyone, send nice packages to me by mail. Everyone loves packages.

Whoops

Sorry, but I really need to go to sleep now. Proper post tomorrow instead, I hope.

Crazy thoughts

Actually started painting in the studio today. Suddenly came up with this idea about how the change of seasons goes (and what they look like), think it would be nice to make some work around that (such an original subject, I know). The coolest thing would be to create an animation about it, but it would probably take me five years to complete. Still. . .

Double Decker

London was nice. Someone's legs are going to hurt tomorrow.

I ate Fish and Chips for the first time in my life. Quite nice, actually. We got a delicious garlic sauce instead of mayonnaise, because they were out of the latter.
