Runeberg

Well well, Runeberg's day (Finnish national poet) came and went (5.2) and, as always with celebrations that give you an excuse to make something nice to eat, we seized the opportunity and baked some Runeberg's Tarts:

 Who could say no to something with both icing and jam?

 Quack quack!

The greenhouse (space between curtains and window in living room) has started to show some signs of life! How unexpected.

Cress in a hurry.

Alas, the weekend is drawing near. Tonight is there is indian food on the menu. Homebaked naan-bread, homemade raita/tzatziki, home-marinated chicken pieces . . .

Retwin

At last, winter came to Canterbury!

This is such an englishly cute city.

Snow = tracks

Poor confused crocuses. They should have known better.
It simply isn't spring at the very start of February.

It's Saturday today, so I don't know that much about any chaos. I heard on the radio that they had to cancel some sports games *gasp* and that some people have freaked out and started to hoard food from the supermarket in case the next ice age breaks out.

Today we'll have a couple of friends over, eat some good food, and eat some of these:

We haven't baked ours yet, and we really don't
have that fancy gold-rimmed plates over here.
Forgot to buy some from Harrods last time.

"Runeberg's tart", is a delicious kind of pastry we eat to celebrate our national poet on his day. It's always good to have reasons to bake something tasty. It's so tedious having to come up with reasons on your own all the time.
