Hasta La Vista, Betty!

Going to the train to Gatwick in half an hour, so I'll be in Finland soon enough. I've switched to my Finnish SIM now, and thus can't be reached with my English number.

Here's a taste of how good I've been:

So if you're still wondering about what to get me, and nothing on the list tickles your fancy this far here's two final thoughts:

Fiskars Nail-Scissors
Fiskars nagelsax
Fiskars kynsisakset

I'd really like them to be the slightly bent type. And they've gotta be Fiskars,
they're simply the best. Colour doesn't matter that much.

Movie Tickets
Biobiljetter
Leffaliput

Always useful, especially now that there are a handful of films I'm interested to see right now!

All right, I'm off! Away from the damp and into the snow.

The list revisited

Winter is coming, and we saw a really interesting sight with Roomie this morning:

Yes, there was ice on the inside of our window. So, merry christmas everyone, I guess! We ate really good pork-crab dumplings/spring rolls the other day. Since we used cheap crab sticks (which are just made of fish made to taste like crab) there was some really funky colours going on in the mixture:

 Step 1, mmmmm

 Step 2, mums mums

Step 3, make the rolls, fry them and eat them without taking pictures.

Last week, we had us some pretty snow, it didn't last for long, but it was enough to throw the English traffic into chaos.

I didn't take my bicycle that day, which proved to be a sound decision, as I saw more than one car slide around and bump into the sidewalk. The snowy day was Finnish Friend's birthday, she got a survival kit (including instant noodles, beer and chocolate) as a present, as she is going to study in Spain.

Roomie hatched a nefarious idea yesterday: We could order takeaway on thursday (we're flying away on friday), which sounds like a really good plan.

And last but not least, I realized I forgot a really important part of the wishlist - chocolate. So, here is an updated version, with updates indicated with blue text (I've also stacked all the updates at the beginning of the list, to make things easier).

El Listo

Badump-tun-tun-tun! If you scroll down you'll find The List. But before that, some news: Me and Roomie are going to Germany on a school trip 4th-8th March 2013.

This means, that I also gladly accept €uros as a present, not just pounds.

A Modern Myth

I fought a ferocious battle with Roomie's USB stick yesterday, since it had suddenly turned into a monster (become write protected without having an external switch). Many lines in the command prompt were written, but the foul apparition was adamant about its read-only status. Several formating softwares were downloaded and utilized to no avail, since the cunning beast was able to evade them (disk not found). Firing projectiles of reason from behind the crenellations of safe-mode proved useless. This damned, loathsome demon was even able to resist the word of God (tampering with the registry), and the future of mankind (my pride) was indeed grim.

But in the darkest of hours, the ancient wisdom of a hero was called upon. Aeons ago, in a different age, the Lion sage had uttered: If there is no switch, it is a hardware problem, and it won't work. Buy a new one. And the words of the old one rang true, the vicious creature unveiled its true form: it is but the tiniest speck of mundane matter. A reaver of the shadows. Feeding on stolen time, frustration and lifepower. An atrocious behemoth of despair.

Ripped out of the den it is astonishingly defenceless against non-binary weaponry and the culture of consumption. If its unruly, broken spirit could not be tamed, another, more benevolent soul should be sought to replace the abomination. Thus, the contemptible fiend is forever trapped in the eternal void of unconnection between worlds. There it shall abide, dwelling in its own abhorrence until the end of its time, the terminal rift.

In the final strife of the odious horror, it is known to be devoured by one or all of three beasts, whose names are whispered by winds from beyond the abyss.

The Hacksaw.
The Grinder.
The Mallet.

Following its obliteration the very essence of the dreadful miscreation shall be trapped in the endless, everchanging sea known by numerous names, of which but one is truthful:

Garbage

(Certain ancient sources claim that this is indeed not the end of th legend, but that it is still stated that the gorgonian vermin will stay imprisoned until one of two courses of fate will be set into motion. Either it is purged and granted a new existence, restarting the cycle. Alternatively, if the ultimate cycle and the death of time is nigh, the gargantuan sea will oveflow and the universe will drown.)

Moral: Do not engage with dreadful technological pests for more than four hours without retribution, as your spirit will be shattered and bitterness will ensue.

Traditional English Autumn Blend

The weather's been almost 100% rainy lately. There's more or less some water falling at least at one point during each day, today it's been the other way around. The rainless moments are far outnumbered by the rainy ones.

But one thing is strange in a surprisingly positive way: it doesn't seem to rain while I'm cycling. I must have been really good this year.

You Are What You Wear

Lately, I've been shopping, and this is what I've found:

I figured the trolley I buy might as well be one notch smaller than the biggest size, since I'm way too good at packing. Everytime I try to fill a big one I have to stop and rearrange halfway through since it's already reached maximum weight allowance. The slippers are from last year.

We fought some mold today, the situation in mine and Roomie's room started to be unbearable, and moving some furniture we found another suprise wall decoration.

I just don't know why it has to be like this. Why can't people who seriously live on an island with approx 95% moisture in the air at all times consider it when building a house?

Family Photo

Sorry I'm not writing very frequently, the days just seem so short, and suddenly a week or more has passed. I've uploaded an actual 100% genuine uncensored family photo to soothe your wrath.

But first, have some cake!

How cute! It's looking at you.

And now for the finale:

From left to right: Roomie, Finnish Friend, Longhaired Roomie, and an ape.

Today, Finnish Friend's sister is coming to visit, and she'll stay until Friday! Fun fun fun fun!

Hallarons

Gotta use beautiful sketches this close to halloween.

Bro and his gf came and went, we ate in, ate out, saw the cathedral, the castle and the city. It was really nice, if anyone else is thinking about visiting, you're more than welcome. Especially if you bring some wine with you. I'm baking some dark greyish blue macarons for the halloween monster cake tomorrow, so stay tuned for pretty pictures. Roomie hatched the splendid plan that we should eat tortillas tomorrow.

There were no objections.

Alms

The evening was a success, our guests liked the food, and what's even better, they brought a lot of gifts with them:

And I do mean a lot.

We ate proper meat soup (I had to hunt an appropriate piece of meat across town. . . still couldn't find one with a bone), karelian pasties, archipelago loaf and last but not least banoffee ice cream with hot caramel sauce.

Tomorrow bro and his gf come to visit, we'll make them eat poached eggs for breakfast, now that we have some of these lovely, fresh eggs. We got even more today, apparently Di,s hens lay way more eggs than they can eat. . .

Oh yeah, didn't go to London after all, the other Finnish Friend in Bournemouth was ill, so she couldn't come, and she pretty much was the reason we were going, so we chose not to. We'll have to try it again soon.
