Ladybird of Luck

It appears to be ladybird season right now. I saw several while cleaning the clothes line in our backyard, with all kinds of dot combinations. I wonder if they consider it beautiful to have super many or super few dots. Or maybe something in between, or a certain amount. would that amount be six, as the amount of their legs or seven for the days of the week?

Creamy

There's a crazy cat outside our window. It's staring at us, right at our souls. It's almost starting to turn unsettling.

In more important news:

Homemade chocolate ice cream! Aww yeah!

My ice cream maker works. I've been dreaming about getting one all summer, and a couple of days before we flew I ordered one on amazon, and it had already arrived upon our own arrival. I'm so happy right now.

One thing that I'm not so happy about is this:

The cool four-wheeled trolley I traded from my brother wasn't as high quality as one would hope. I wonder if it has (global) warranty, if so, please let me know. It seems like one wheel melted and another one almost did it. I might have packed it too heavy, and then it apparently didn't like being pulled a couple of kilometers across town either. Well, as I mentioned yesterday, the wheel gave up relatively close to our destination, I just had to drag its smoking remains uphill for half a kilometer.

The worklamp I got from hell (IKEA) last year has a terribly annoying and loud buzzing noise that escalates as the adapter warms up, so I'm getting it swapped for a new one. I won't let them win this one! I'll also do a little sightseeing Croydon, I'll let you know if I find anything interesting. Apparently there's an Art Centre somewhere there, let's see if I can find it. . .

Gotta Try Forests In Every New Medium

Here are some results from my second go at screenprinting, three different versions:

I think they turned out okay, would be nice to do some additional colours at some point, such as blue and brown. . . There's six layers in total, so I'm rather surprised I actually got them to line up nicely on most prints.

Can you see the animals?

Strange Behaviour

Watch out for giggling packs of around 11 year old sugarhigh little girls here in the UK. They're up to no good. Just as I was going to enter Tesco one individual from such a pack walked up to me and groped my behind just like that. My reflexes seem to work, because I automatically grabbed her hand, but I was in such a state of shock that I just kept walking and threw the hand away after a moment. The fact that I grabbed the hand in the first place resulted in extremely frantic and nervous giggling from the groper and her pack. I was halfway into the supermarket before I even realized what had happened.

In retrospective, it would have been interesting to see how they would've reacted if I'd revealed that I was a girl (short hair and baggy clothing equals boy, as we all know. Especially everyone in the women's restroom).

In short:

What the fwup?

I also created an animation today. I'll post it on the blog after I've made some final tweaks to it. It's a proper 2D animation on paper. I drew for about two hours and managed to get five seconds of animation together.

I'm Clean

Today our class went on a trip to Margate, and visited a contemporary art museum. I also visited a handful of galleries, and an interesting junkshop. Right now, however, I'm a bit too tired to upload photos or write anything long and coherent. I am also in need of a shower. In about an hour the longhaired roomies mother and sister come to visit (yay! Adventure!). That's not why I'm going to take a shower, that won't fool them. Also, I'm not writing about me washing myself in order to promote how hygienic I am to the world (note that this probably is the first time I've mentioned I actually wash up every now and then). Speaking of showers, the bathtub is a lovely invention. A week or two ago I took a little to hot bath, and had to cool down afterwards with a pounding head. At least my blood circulation got some exercise then. I really don't know why I'm talking about this. Might as well spill it all out:

I have a dry scalp.
