Spectacular Spectacles

Had a wonderful day in London with a couple of relatives yesterday. I was back home at 2 a.m., so that's why I didn't write yesterday. That's my excuse. You are free to judge me now.

To get you in the London mood I'll show a picture of a very interesting part of the city from my visit there last week:

Very interesting part indeed!

Alright. Arriving at the Victoria station started well. I heard my favourite announcment this far:

"This train terminates here, please make sure you've got all of your personal belongings and all of your children with you."

I'm sure no one forgot a child on that train. Not even that forgettable, quiet runt for a fifth son.

There was also some kind of happening at Buckingham and The Mall, because The Mall was lined with Union Jacks and Turkish flags. There had also been some kind of incident, because a big part of The Mall was completely closed down, and I and other unsuspecting pedestrians were told by a police officer to get lost take a detour.

Then I went to meet my relatives at their hotel, and then we hit the town for some shopping. Got treated to some very good food and drink, and in the evening we went to see the Classical Spectacular in the Royal Albert Hall:

There was a couple of fellows dressed like that.

And quite a few spectators. I heard it was all sold out.

The place was huge, and the show was really great. There was a full symphony orchestra plus a choir, fanfare trumpeteers and dancers. The show was additionally spiced up with lights, lasers and in the end fireworks and cannons. I really was quite a spectacular show. They played very popular classical pieces, so I recognized almost every single one.

It was a very lovely evening, so many thanks to my relatives who gave this to me. I even got chocolate, a couple of sudokus and a couple of sweaters from them in addition to food and entertainment. Very much appreciated.

Speaking of food, I think it's lunchtime now.

The Wishlist

Essential, serious stuff:

Stick blender
Stavmixer
Sauvasekoitin

Won't need that many of them, I hope.

Crisp rye-bread
Surskorpor
Hapankorppuja

You simply can't find essentials like this in the UK

Money
Pengar
Rahaa

Quite essential.

Bicycle
Cykel
Polkupyörä

Might be best to give me money for this one. Quite difficult to ship.

Can opener
Konservöppnare
Purkinavaaja

The normal, sane, cheap version. I'm sorry Brits, but you've got this all wrong.
Or then I'm just too simple-minded for the fancier versions.

Pot (ha ha, very funny.)
Gryta
Pata

Might once again be better with money, quite heavy to take on the plane.

Cash
Fyrk
Mammonaa

I can't stress this enough.

Money for artist's materials (going to order markers online)
Pengar för konstnärsmaterial (tänker beställa tuscher på nätet)
Raha taiteilijantarvikkeita varten (tilaan netin kautta)

For messing around on paper.

Not so essential, but oh so nice stuff:

Fables vol 2. Animal Farm.
Bill Willingham & Mark Buckingham

Because I like Comics.

I'd really prefer this cover, it would go together with
the rest of my collection. It's a paperback.

Nerdy section:

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Intense game of investigating and winning legal cases.

Heard it's one of the best games for the DS.
Action-packed role playing game with a great story (i heard)

Intelligent and unique puzzle-solving game with an outstanding gameplay.

Beautiful, unique adventure game with flexible gameplay.
